As a movie buff and gaming enthusiast, I have ALWAYS wanted to replace my TV setup with a projector, larger picture with great clarity, but there have always been compromises.

As a movie buff and gaming enthusiast, I have ALWAYS wanted to replace my TV setup with a projector, larger picture with great clarity, but there have always been compromises.
Whether that is the image quality not being up to par due to scaling resolutions, brightness not being enough to use in daylight or the throw of the projector needing very specific setup and placement.
The Epson TW650 seems to solve all of those problems and that really excited me.
First off, the entire unit is rather compact, we are not in the age of large bulky projectors anymore, they have managed to put high quality specs into a small affordable package.
You have your buttons on top for menu, speaker volume, power, as well as the manual focus and keystoning paddles.
Then you have all your of your connection possibilities on the rear, including USB, Audio, VGA and 2 HDMI ports, which will enable you to connect everything from TVs, consoles, computers and even phones thanks to the built-in WiFi!
I managed to connect this to my TV, my Xbox One X as well as a couple of mobile phones with the iProjection app that is available.
One thing I'd like to see is a complete mirroring for Android and iOS, as it's a little limited to photos / video, webpages and fixed content. Would be far easier to have it completely mirrored so whatever is on your phone can be projected.
Still a very handy feature, that can be upgraded through software.
The inbuilt 2W speakers are adequate but ofcourse you will want to use an external audio source where possible, as you won't get much punch to them.
Speaking of sound, the fans on the projector in eco mode are very quiet, however when using it to it's full potential they can get a LITTLE whirry, but nothing you'd actually hear over a standard sound system.
When it comes to image quality, the projector is AMAZING, it is very bright (at 3100 Lumens) which means I could happily use it in daytime (not in DIRECT sunlight, don't be silly!), as well as on my Xbox One X which needs the full breadth of that 1080p resolution
This is also thanks to the 3LCD approach used, meaning you get bright vivid colours, no rainbow effect (which was a HUGE problem with standard projectors).
Black levels are good with a distinct range from pure white to full black, no banding seen.
You can see the crispy details, contrast is brilliant and really pops off the surface, colours are rich and there is absolutely no lag. I love it!
I was really surprised how SHARP the projector is, it was literally like having a high resolution TV implanted onto any surface I projected it onto, simply wowed.
You can really see that full 1080p resolution put to use.
Overall I am extremely pleased with the TW650, it is easy to use, compact, bright and has a fantastic 1080p resolution which gives you a GORGEOUS visuals whether you are wanting a home cinema or gaming room.
This is definitely going to be my MAIN projector for home content and gaming.
For the price, you can't really go wrong in the current market, with the Epson TW650 sitting at just £470 on Amazon.
