So Kami have come out with a unit that needs none of those wires, but is it good?
First of all, I already have a CCTV system at home, yes it was a hassle to put up, yes there are wires everywhere but I think I managed it ok.
The Kami Wire-Free option absolutely seems the easier choice and if I was going over it again...I most likely would have gone a wire-free option, as it's just so simple!
All you do is charge the batteries, insert them into the unit, screw the front case on and that unit is ready to mount. Don't forget to put in your Micro-SD too!
Then you just screw the mounting plate onto the wall / object you want to use as a the base, push the bottom of the camera mount against it and twist. DONE. It is that simple.
The footprint of the entire unit is very small, it's a sleek unit and once mounted very secure.
It is IP65 weatherproof and dust proof, which means it can be used in pretty much any environment.
Mine was mounted next to a bird feeder outside in the garden, providing some lovely views throughout the day. Even had some birds perched on it, no problem!
It has a 140° wide-angle lens, 1080p HD image, and enhanced night vision capabilities. It's provided me with clear views during daytime and during night time.
One thing I really love is the night vision, it's very clear, keeps a good framerate and is potentially a life saver in case you get broken into at night.
The app is very easy to use, when you want to connect to the camera for the first time, it just scans a QR code and is done.
It has a lot of features, keeps your clips saved to the cloud (which is upgradable), puts through smart motion detection notifications to you and enables you to view the camera from anywhere in the world.
About the smart motion detection, it uses AI and the PIR system to negate most false positives, meaning stuff like bugs and junk won't be spamming your inbox!
Leaving only those potential threats to be viewed.
Overall, it's an impressive little unit.
The fact it's wire-free AND gives great images, plus having a viable ecosystem / app behind it, really does make it something to look into.
